Student Programs
Generation Rx – 4th Grade
This 45-minute lesson for 4th graders prevents the misuse of prescription drugs. Prescription and over-the-counter medicines are typically accessible and visible in our homes, and children should understand prescription and over-the-counter medication safety at an early age. The Generation RX lesson is an age-appropriate, engaging resource that educates children about medication safety principles, equipping them with a foundation for understanding how to use medicines safely before they enter their teen and adult years.
Community Assessment & Planning – Middle and High School
This program for grades 6-12 features the Strategic Prevention Framework model for assessing drug prevention needs within a school and developing strategies that students can implement. We teach students to analyze data for their school and determine related risk and protective factors to design prevention efforts and communication campaigns they can implement in their own schools.
Harm Reduction Education – 8th-High School
When it comes to drug education, a harm reduction approach discourages young people from using alcohol and other drugs. But it offers more than an abstinence-only approach because it also provides teenagers with information to keep themselves and their friends safe if and when they do encounter these substances. Our staff will coordinate with schools on the length and topics of this presentation.
Peers On Vaping – Middle and High School
This peer-to-peer vaping course can be taught to students in grades 6-12 in one class period. We train peer teachers to implement the program in classrooms and empower their peers to be the next generation of tobacco-free advocates. This program requires a sponsor to help schedule classroom presentations.
Stanford Prevention Toolkit on Vaping – Middle and High School
In this interactive 45-minute presentation, our staff teaches students the latest information on vaping and its effects. Students will increase their knowledge about basic facts of e-cigarettes and the harm they cause, learn about strategies manufacturers and sellers of e-cigarettes employ to increase use among adolescents, and gain skills to refuse experimentation and use of e-cigarettes.
Marijuana Prevention Plus Wellness – Middle and High School
Marijuana PPW is a single-session cannabis use prevention program designed to increase wellness-enhancing behaviors including physical activity, sports participation, healthy eating, getting adequate sleep, and practicing stress control. It is listed in the National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices (NREPP), Blueprints for Healthy Youth Development, and other evidence-based registries. It utilized evidence-based screening practices and brief intervention format recognized by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
Project Toward No Drug Abuse – High School
Project TND is an effective drug abuse prevention program that targets high school-age youth. At the completion of twelve 1-hour sessions, students will be able to:
-
Stop or reduce the use of cigarettes, alcohol, marijuana, and hard drugs (i.e., cocaine, hallucinogens, depressants, amphetamines, etc).
-
Stop or reduce weapon carrying and victimization.
